We have an exciting role for a highly motivated Principal Operations Manager to join our esteemed team in Area 12 based in our West Cowick depot.
Collaborating closely with our client National Highways, Amey takes pride in delivering top-tier Maintenance and Response services, catering to the extensive network across Yorkshire and Humberside. Our responsibilities encompass all routine and cyclic maintenance operations on the trunk roads and motorways, covering an impressive expanse that includes 1,650km of motorway, 476km of dual carriageway trunk roads, 179km of single carriageway trunk roads, and 1,963 structures.
This pivotal role as it involves overseeing the seamless execution of routine and cyclical highway maintenance operations on behalf of our client, with a particular focus on managing Electrical and Technology Operations. You will play a crucial part in upholding the safety, quality, and reliability our extensive road networks.
The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week on a hybrid basis where you will be required to travel across Yorkshire and Humberside, being visible on-site for four days each week.
You will be responsible for:
- Operational Leadership: Lead and manage a team of highway maintenance professionals, ensuring effective execution of maintenance activities and adherence to safety standards.
- Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate the performance of maintenance operations, implementing improvements and innovations to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Contract Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to contractual obligations, quality standards, and health and safety regulations.
- Budget Management: Responsible for managing the budget for highway maintenance activities, including cost control and forecasting.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with National Highways, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment of goals.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational risks, implementing proactive measures to prevent incidents and accidents.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement, promoting best practices and innovative solutions.
- Environmental Sustainability: Champion sustainable practices and environmental initiatives in highway maintenance operations.
