Role: Transport Planning and Passenger Transport Professional
PAYE Rate: £45.84 Planned Start Date: 3 June 2024
Duration: Initially 6 months | Hours: Up to 37 hours per week (flexible)
Location: Mostly remote working with 1 day in Winchester office per week
Additional Requirements:
- Develop local area transport strategies and projects in East Hampshire
- Experience in rural areas advantageous
- Ability to travel to sites with no public transport
Responsibilities Include:
- Lead development of local transport policy and strategy
- Act as liaison for Hampshire's district authorities
- Produce technical reports and presentations for stakeholders
- Commission and review technical studies
- Client/project manage transport improvements and strategic projects
- Seek external funding for transport improvements
- Financial and programme management
Role Summary:
As part of this role, you will:
- Lead research and development of transport policy documents
- Respond to transport-related consultations
- Develop business cases and funding bids
- Manage delivery of transport schemes
- Coordinate and monitor teams and projects
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in relevant Transport Planning field
- Chartered status or equivalent experience
- Extensive team leadership experience
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a political environment
Decision Making Areas:
- Highway development control and planning advice
- Preparation and assessment of travel plans
- Recommendations to Members and senior management
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid working (home and office)
- Infrequent visits to live sites
- Communication in challenging environments
