Position Summary

Private Cloud Delivery Engineers are responsible for the implementation, onboarding and initial configuration of customer solution and workloads onto Claranet’s UK multi-tenant and/or customer dedicated platforms and infrastructure. This includes the building and configuration of servers and Operating Systems as well as supporting services such as firewalls, load balancing, backup sand DR. Working with and across private and hybrid cloud platforms within the Claranet estate, enabling repeatable and scalable capability.

Our portfolio platforms, infrastructure and data centres are critical to our strategy and ensuring our customers have service 24*7*365.  We are seeking Private Cloud Delivery Engineers who will help onboard and enable our customers to utilise our platforms and services with ease, being a pivotal role at the beginning of our customers experience and when they want to consume more services.

 

Objectives and Key Results

  • Drive a smooth and high-quality onboarding experience for our customers onto private and hybrid cloud platform and services.
  • Working across the technical landscape to ensure the right technologies, process and standards are used to ensure a quality delivery and in-life manage service experience for our customers.
  • Delivery reliable and performant solutions and services on private/hybrid cloud platforms.
  • Ensure skills and knowledge are up-to-date and aligned with the organisation's goals.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Perform customer solution implementations in conjunction with internal technical teams, external suppliers and data centre operations teams as needed.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the other technical practices to drive best practice, capability, and opportunity.
  • Participate in on-call rota to cover out of hours support as required.
  • Support in the development of process and technology relating to Private/Hybrid Cloud deployments with a focus on “Automate First”.
  • Liaise with software and hardware suppliers where appropriate.
  • Provide timely, accurate and consistent technical infrastructure service to internal and external customers.
  • Interact with a range of people, from highly technical to Senior Executive stakeholders. This means the ability to change style/approach is essential.
  • Drive efficiencies through automation, process design, implementation, and decommissioning.
  • Undertake additional projects and support tasks as appropriate to the role.
  • An escalation points for Private/Hybrid Cloud deployments (as required)

  • Customer Experience and Managed Services – to ensure we are consistently providing the best service to our customer, proactively monitoring their needs, and integrating their feedback into our solutions.
  • Customer Success and Growth – collaboration on any customer engagements where required.
  • Portfolio, Alliances and Technology Practices – work with the team to ensure that the defined solution architecture principles and standards are applied where necessary and that underlying platforms can adequately support portfolio of Cloud, Security and Workplace offerings.

Critical competencies – technical fit
  • Recognised as an authority internally and externally for platform infrastructure knowledge and experience.
  • Good understanding of IT Service Management, Cloud Services and Data-centric Delivery
  • Technical Cloud Infrastructure Knowledge: Virtualization, Operating Systems (Windows and Linux), IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Automation and Scripting
  • Hold relevant technical accreditations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and highly presentable to customers
  • Have the rigor, ability, and discipline to self-learn that is required for continuous continual professional development and stay abreast of changes in the industry.
  • Expertise and experience with:
    • Operating System deployment, management, and automation (Windows & Linux)
    • DevOps tooling such as Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, JSON, Python (advantageous)
    • Onboarding and migrating workloads between clouds, platforms and or data centers
    • Infrastructure technologies such as virtualization, Compute Servers, monitoring, backups, DR, networking
