Job Introduction

Product & Commercial Executive - Health and Travel Insurance

Salary – Up to £33,000 FTE

FT – 35 hours per week

Hybrid – Home & Kent Hubs

As a Product & Commercial Executive, you will be joining our Insurance Business to focus on our Health and/or Travel Insurance products.

Working within the cross-functional team, you’ll be delivering product development, good customer outcomes, commercial efficiency, and enhancements to Saga’s business plan.

At Saga, we offer total flexibility over where you work. You choose a place that you feel most comfortable and productive, either from home or in one of our hubs in London, Ashford or Sandwich. The Product & Commercial team typically come together at least once a month to collaborate.

Role Responsibility

As a Product and Commercial Executive you will be working with the Product & Commercial Managers and wider team to manage and develop market-leading Health and Travel insurance products, incorporating key regulatory principles, including Consumer Duty.

Your accountabilities will include; 

  • Working within commercial relationships with our Suppliers and Conduct Risk to ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines
  • Effectively communicate project and departmental business objectives, project briefings and any other information in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining clear and consistent lines of communication across all stakeholders, ensuring that the needs of the department and suppliers are appropriately represented and information is cascaded in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of Travel and/or Health insurance, inclusive of product, procedures, and systems across the business, ensuring the knowledge is kept up to date.
  • Technical experience in relation to system migratory work is desirable, including but not limited to user requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Function as a BAU point of contact for the team and support in the product forums, meetings, and day to day activity, reporting directly to a Product and Commercial Manager for Health and Travel insurance.
  • Involvement in all areas of product and commercial management, including Annual Product Value Assessments & product development where required.
  • Project management, with particular focus on cross-functional team working and Supplier relations - attendance at Supplier meetings where required.
  • Management of competitor and industry research and analysis, including the maintaining of price competitiveness consistent with the Saga brand through market comparisons and actuarial liaison
  • Ensure all customer communications are technically correct, consistent, aligned with the Saga brand and meet relevant regulatory requirements
  • Undertake root cause analysis of products to understand key drivers behind customer complaints and deliver innovative solutions

The Ideal Candidate

As our Product & Commercial Executive, you will have a good knowledge of general insurance markets, including products, practices and regulatory requirements.

We are open to candidates with either Travel or Health Insurance product knowledge.

Other skills and experience required include:

  • Knowledge of product and commercial management principles and procedures.
  • Ability to work within a team and independently.
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Ability to manage and deliver cross-functional projects to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to challenge and improve existing processes.
  • Commercially aware and able to develop and implement product initiatives to meet customer needs.
  • Ability to manage delivery and analyse market research.
