Job description

Main Duties

What we are looking for:

– A recent graduate, or a current undergraduate student who has completed the first 2 years of their course in a design degree

(e.g. product design or Industrial Design)

– Evidence of a thoughtful, structured design process, clearly demonstrated visually in your portfolio

(i.e., please clearly show your design process and decision making leading to the outcome of your projects)

– Excellent sketching and visual communication skills.

– An interest in applying your creativity across a range of industries

– Ability to use the Adobe suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign)

– Ability to create sketch models and mock-ups of design concepts

– Basic photography skills

What will the internship offer the student and what will they learn while they are with you? E.g. skills they could learn/develop and experience they could gain.

Our Opportunity

Paid 6-month internship (running from June/July 2024 – November 2024) or 12-month internship (running from June/July 2024 – June 2025), full time and in-person at our Cambridge office.

Design at Innovia

Innovia is an exciting workplace for designers – the diversity of our projects provides opportunities to be involved in the creation and development of breakthroughs in FMCG, food and beverage, medical, transportation, retail, packaging, apparel, home appliances and consumer electronics.

‘Front end innovation’ is the very start of the next new thing – our work focuses on the ideation, experimentation, concept testing and development stages of new products, services or solutions.

On an internship you’ll get to work closely with other specialists whose background may be in organic chemistry, public health, theoretical physics, business strategy, chemical engineering, veterinary medicine, psychology, and many other fields – giving you opportunities to expand your thinking, work in truly multidisciplinary teams and develop concepts into breakthrough innovations.

Our people are crucial to our success – not only do we recognise expertise, skills and professionalism, we value highly the things that make you unique: your passion, previous experience, approachability and ambition.

An internship at Innovia will involve:

- Applying your design and creativity skills to solve a range of innovation challenges

– Working in multi-disciplinary teams on diverse projects

– Bringing ideas to life through sketching, Photoshop, graphical illustration, CAD, modelling and prototyping.
