Our client one of the UK's largest suppliers of building and construction steel reinforcement solutions for the Construction industry is recruiting a Production and Transport planner to join their business.

- Basic salary per annum - £27k - £31k per annum (dependant on experience)
- Working Hours:Monday to Friday 7am-4pm totalling 40 hours per week after deducting a daily unpaid break of 60 minutes

The Role
This is crucial role within the business and requires a dedicated team member that is ambitious.
This role will focus on Production Planning and Scheduling and Transport Planning.
To develop and implement production plans to maximise the use of the organisation's resources and meet established production targets to the highest Environmental, Health and Safety standards. Manage the transport and distribution of the business' products to ensure goods are transported safely and cost-effectively to meet customer expectations.
- Review tonnage scheduled against manning to ensure feasibility
- Create and prioritise batches onto individual machine schedules and give to production team
- Record and submit appropriate data into production database for traceability
- Monitor production activity and analyse production data to attain the necessity to reschedule due to deviations
- Adjust schedules to accommodate backlogs, design changes and material or labour shortages
- Identify outstanding orders and schedule into production as a priority
- Analyse scheduled tonnage for the day to identify levels above or below capacity
- Chase additional contracts through different depots/contracts team/companies when production capacity is not at optimum
- Notify contracts team expected delivery dates
- Notify contracts team to extend delivery dates with customers when tonnage over capacity
- Confirm production requirements with contracts team to ensure the customer still wants the scheduled production when appropriate
- Communicate with hauliers any delays in production as soon as they arise to minimise costs
- Analyse delivery departure times against expected arrivals using available haulier communication to establish what is likely to arrive late
- Liaise with contracts team to communicate delivery delays
- Perform trailer checks to analyse what trailers are loaded
- Report deviations to production team when trailers to not match the schedule
- Report all haulier related health and safety issues to suppliers and on site personnel
Suitable applicants must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of Production and Manufacturing, as a Production Planner OR Transport Planner.
Applicants will have a working knowledge of Production Planning / Production Control AND/OR Transport Planning, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
Suitable applicants will come from a Manufacturing or Engineered , Production Engineering, Heavy Manufacture, Metals industry. Other candidates will be considered from other industries but must have and show interest in the production/manufacturing sector and be looking for a challenge.
