We are delighted to be supporting a key client of ours based in Birmingham with the recruitment of a
Production Manager. This role has overall responsibility for Safety, Quality, Equipment, Throughput, Cost, Delivery, and personnel on shift.The role will take direction from the Business Unit Manager on plant priorities to meet the targets for the shift in line with business needs.Key responsibilities associated with the role:
- Achieving throughput while meeting and exceeding productivity targets by reviewing and planning for: daily, weekly, and quarterly labour and equipment, tooling and supply requirements.
- Establish priorities relating to plant requirements, communicating with supporting departments to ensure business needs are met.
- Accountable for daily analysis of variable labour costs.
- Carry out management responsibilities including recruiting & training employees, planning, assigning & directing work; evaluating & appraising performance; rewarding & engaging with team members, & disciplinary procedure requirements.
- Is accountable for flexibility of the workforce to address skills gaps and create an adaptable workforce.
- Will control departmental budget through the daily flex and management of outwork.
- Accountable for all aspects of HSE that arise on shift.
- Using Process Improvement and Lean Manufacturing Tools such as SPC, FMEAs, 6S and Lean Sigma structured problem-solving techniques to drive improvements.
- Will be an area owner for 6S and attend weekly meetings communicate updates to all members of Operations team.
- "Ensure Operation adherence to Preventative Maintenance Plan and will attend weekly Planned Maintenance review meeting.
Experience and attributes required:
- Must be either of graduate calibre with management diploma and/or have equivalent experience within a management role in a unionised environment.
- Will have professional advancement in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to interpret high level business objectives into day-to-day plans and roll out and delegate to teams, able to clearly identify day to day priorities and create action plans to deliver.
- Demonstrable computer skills.
- Demonstrable experience in managing people.
