Interaction Recruitment are hiring for an experienced Production Manager in Milton Keynes. The company that we are working with are expanding following great successes securing new business for 2024 and require someone with experience to take the operation to the next level.
You will work directly with the Director for Engineering and Operations, and have the opportunity to work flexibly.
Your responsibilities will include managing the production team of skilled wiring assemblers, managing the operations of the factory, the machine shop, stores and the stock inventory.
Previous experience of creating production plans is desireable because this is an integral part of the role.
Please note that this role will involve extensive security clearance vetting and so is only open to British citizens.
The Duties
Responsibility for the operation and maintenance for the whole factory.
Motivating staff, promoting a team culture, one of positivity and continual improvement.
Taking complete ownership for production output, meeting agreed targets, developing plans and providing detailed performance and analysis reports to the Operations Director and proactively updating the sales department with project progress.
Providing the interface between engineering and the shop floor.
Carry out regular appraisals for employees in the production team.
Promoting continual improvement and implement 5S and other agreed lean manufacturing strategies throughout the factory.
Work with the production team leader to deliver productivity improvements, reduce down time, inefficiency and to maximise performance. Implementing strategies to reduce waste and shortages.
Working with test engineers to prioritise and plan the testing of equipment, factory acceptance tests and on-site service visits.
Work with supply chain to plan in-house machine shop production of parts and co-ordinating material supply to ensure full kits are available to meet production schedules.
Support and assist the stores-manager with the running of warehouse, stores and goods in/out areas and organising special and international consignments as necessary.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain quality standards.
Working with the QHSE Manager, contributing to the development of the Quality System and ensuring company HS&E rules, policies and standards are adhered to within production.
Promote a quality ethos and a continual improvement mindset within the factory, improving processes and controls where necessary.
Hosting site visits as required.
Control the traceability of materials, organisation of the factory, cleanliness and appearance, inspection and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Excellent communicator.
Strong people manager with the ability to your team.
High level of computer skills, quick to learn, data driven and analytical with the ability to produce quality reports.
Good practical skills, ideally from a low volume electro-mechanical production environment.
Innovative whilst maintaining high levels of efficiency, productivity and team moral.
Quick to gain a strong and deep understanding of new products, customers and markets.
Understanding of Environmental, Health & Safety and regulatory compliance.
A strong background in Lean Manufacturing techniques in particular 5S, 6 Sigma and process analysis.
Ability to read and interpret engineering and electrical drawings and to resolve minor technical and production issues.
Able to achieve BPSS security clearance as a minimum.
