Who are we?
Located in the heart of Manchester, The Union is part business, part charity, part membership body. Operating independently from Manchester Metropolitan University, our aim is to support and represent each one of our student members. Each year our growing team of around 50 full time and up to 100 part time staff, work alongside elected student leaders to make change, improve lives and help fulfil student potential.

What's the job?
Reporting to Hannah Snape, Opportunities Manager.
Overall purpose of the job:
- To support and organise designated Union projects within sustainable development, incorporating student involvement and leadership
- To support the administration of organised student groups
- To deliver lead volunteer training modules to students
Main taks:
- To coordinate and support designated Union Projects supporting ethical and sustainable development and leadership
- Take a lead delivery role in mandatory projects allocated to the role from the following:
- Give it a Go project of taster activity sessions
- Celebratory and educational events supporting the United Nations inclusivity calendar
- In schools volunteering project
- Union led raising and giving project
- Green Impact and Responsible Futures accreditation projects
- Take a lead delivery role in one optional harm reduction project, to be decided in consultation with Union stakeholders in one of the following areas as they affect students:
- Gambling
- Sex work
- Alcohol
- Substance misuse
- Sexual misconduct
- Deliver elements of the Union’s lead volunteer training program to students, course reps, society and club committee members and project volunteers and other training as deemed appropriate
- Support the administration and facilitation of organised Union student groups; e.g. student societies, sports clubs and sub groups
The post holder shall:
- Attend meetings and training events as required
- Comply with Union policies, procedures and constitution at all times
- Comply with environmental legislation and both support and promote measures introduced within the Union to lessen environmental impact
- Undertake any other duties appropriate for the grade and responsibilities of the post that may from time to time be reasonably requested
- Contribute to the positive and professional image of the Union and not act in such a manner as to bring the Union into disrepute/li>
- Have a flexible approach to duties and work and, in particular, adopt a team work style with departments and activities across the Union. This may involve undertaking duties in support of the activities and services of other departments
- Understand and uphold the mission, vision and values of the organisation and be always guided by them in the course of work
