Your new company is a construction company based in the surrounds of Woking, Surrey that specialises in the installation of interior fixtures and fittings for commercial and residential properties in the Surrey and London areas. The company has enjoyed rapid expansion and an impressive increase in turnover that has created a position for a project co-ordinator to support the Director in organising the purchasing of materials to fulfil the demand on site for purchasing and delivering construction materials. Your new role is to work alongside the Operations Director to read the scope of works, interpret the procurement schedules for individual projects valuing from GBP0.25 million to GBP4 million and execute a plan to supply direct and subcontract workers with their materials on time and within budget. Your role would be to contact the account managers with existing materials suppliers, negotiate and place orders and raise appropriate purchase orders. This role is an office-based role and training would be given on the specific products, which include plasterboard, suspended ceiling systems, dry-wall partition systems & MF systems. What you'll need to succeed is a high level of organisational skills and have previous office experience and proficiency in MS Office such as Word, Excel and you will be trained in some specialist software for interpreting drawings. You will either have some form of formal training and education in construction or have experience within a construction company or a similar business to business service. Previous experience in buying or procurement is useful, not essential. You will need to have your own transport and the head office is not located near any transport links and is in a rural location.
