An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a capable and experienced project/portfolio planner to join a manufacturing and installation business based near Kingswinford.
This role is initially as a fixed term contract for 12-18 months in length.
This is a brand new role which has been created to support the project management team. They are currently very good at project planning and tracking the finer details of each project, but struggle from a portfolio point of view and having a ‘birds eye’ view of multiple projects at one time.
This is where this role comes in.
We are looking for someone with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Projects, which is the portfolio project management tool they use. They wants someone who can come in and identify programs and processes that need to be implemented to support the PM’s with the system and tracking the relevant portfolio information.
This role would suit someone who has knowledge of construction projects and has experience in project portfolio planning or tracking.
Experience similar to this from the likes of local council, utilities, gas, energy or capital works would be a good transition.

Responsibilities for the role:
- Working for the Project Delivery Team, to be responsible for implementing the requirements of the Clients order and project planning procedures, ensuring compliance with the business management system.
- The ability to formulate a programme/process response to any Client requirements.
- To establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with customers and project team members.
- Identifying planning scope, major constraints, and contract requirements
- Identifying major quantities and factors affecting the programme
- Establishing and agreeing with Project Delivery Team key methods of construction, sequencing, installation, and commissioning
- Producing and documenting the planning deliverables including programmes, planning philosophy, presentations, and reports.
- Producing the Installation Programme and supporting information in accordance with the tender requirements
- Set up appropriate lean visual programme to assist the Project Team to timely deliver projects and improve productivity, performance, and safety of projects.
The ideal candidate for the role:
- Will have previous project planning, portfolio planning or similar experience
- Ideally within a construction or installations focus business
- Experience within this type of role for local council, utilities, gas, energy or capital works would be desirable
- An understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements.
- Experience of working to programs and ideally implementing programs and process is essential
- An understanding of various methods of planning, programming, and progress monitoring.
- Proficiency in the use of planning techniques and the required planning toolsets
- Must be results driven and have a growth mindset
