Brief Description
The programme management team in North West Route works with colleagues across all functions to deliver a portfolio of projects and programmes. We manage the Route data and information management processes so that Route teams can be confident in data quality and make better decisions that lead to better outcomes.
From delivery of individual access points and operational enhancements, to new technology introduction, to complex cultural change programmes focussed on planning, access and ‘21st Century’ Maintenance – the remit of the team is to enable those changes that will see the Route meet its CP7 targets. The team’s key focus is delivery – working with those impacted by the projects and programmes to drive a people-centred approach to structured change management. We are a friendly team who work closely together and are passionate about delivering for our customers.
About the role (External)
The Project Manager [Technology] will manage the development and delivery of change projects to agreed scope, time, cost and quality requirements, working with Function Directors, Executive Sponsors and their representatives. The focus of the role will be around Track Worker Safety and leading the Route approach to all new technology delivery.

Specific responsibilities include
- Agreeing the remit and success criteria of change projects with the relevant Executive Sponsors and Functional Directors.
- Managing the development and delivery of change projects in compliance with company processes and procedures.
- Managing the production of project management plans for change projects.
- Establishing and managing collaborative cross-functional virtual teams to deliver change projects, where appropriate.
- Delivering regular progress reports on change projects, including relevant risks and issues, to Executive Sponsors and Functional Directors.
- Managing project budgets within agreed targets.
- Promoting and monitoring the use of efficiency improvement methods.
Essential
- Experience of working in change projects.
- Understanding of applying project methodologies.
- A passion for safety and technology
Desirable
- Educated to degree level.
- Member of project association.
- Commercial and financial awareness.
- Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of/experience in the UK rail industry
Salary and benefits:
- Salary: Band 3B, starting at £46,701 and increasing to £52,539
- Pro-rata annual leave entitlement (28 days)
