We are looking for a Team Manger to join our Passenger Transport Unit. This is an exciting role where you’ll provide operational & strategic leadership and direction for the Council’s PTU operational and contract services to ensure that the end to end service can meet the statutory and operational requirements for long term sustainable services.
Some of the key deliverables of this role include but are not limited to:
Development of fully costed staff structures to take the PTU service forward
Lead on the procurement of new and contracted services with the PTU contract manager
Review and overhaul existing transport policies for statutory school transport, post 16, adults and mainstream travel services
Development of service model to ensure that service provision is the most effective for the council, its residents and clients.
You’ll lead, manage and motivate the PTU, operations and contract teams, ensuring that any developed SLA’s, external contract requirements, and statutory obligations are met within the service.
About you
We are looking for someone with substantial experience at a team level in two or more areas:
Commissioning/Procurement
Passenger Transport
Project delivery for cross department/service transformation or development projects
Developing and implementing policy and service level agreements in public or private sector
You’ll have experience of experience of securing and managing change, using performance management techniques and performing an operational support role.
You’ll also have substantial experience of budget management including financial planning budgetary monitoring and income generation, at Cost Centre Manager level.
We need someone with excellent communication skills with the ability to deal with all levels of staff tactfully and sensitively.
You’ll have in depth business development and trading services skills, including business case development, delivery and evaluation.
This is an exciting role where you’ll have the opportunity to develop your existing understanding of, transportation and environmental sustainability related legislation, issues and practices, including their integration and co-ordination.
We do ask that you have a relevant degree and/or professional or management qualification, or equivalent experience and are able and willing to attend Committee and Council meetings and meetings with other interests outside normal working hours.
