Who we are 
Worstead Church of England Primary School is a small village school in rural North Norfolk on the edge of the Broads, yet only 20 minutes from Norwich or the coast. We have a strong reputation in the local area because of our school’s distinct family feel, Christian ethos, happy and successful children and motivated, stable workforce. “The shared responsibility to love and care for others means staff notice one another’s needs and actively support each other to thrive.” (SIAMS 2024) We know every child and have a settled class structure.

Why Worstead    
This is an opportunity to join us at an exciting time in our school’s development. We are part of a new federation and associate members of St Benet’s North MAT. This position has become available due to planned maternity leave for the current Reception Class Teacher. We expect this to start on 15.4.24.

The teaching role 
As Robins’ Class Teacher (Reception, approx. 15 pupils) you will be responsible for a class of eager children who will be looking forward to meeting you. You will be involved in the summer term induction processes for the September intake, whom you will carry on to teach. You will work to the Teacher Standards but we also welcome applications from ECTs as we embed a fresh curriculum approach supported by the St Benet’s Early Years network. EYFS experience is essential due to the importance of maintaining our existing strong foundations. The class has an assigned TA.

What you need    
You will be an excellent teacher, with inclusive practice a given, positive relationships with children and adults, and the ability to learn. You will have (or be expecting) QTS. An Enhanced DBS check and references will be required prior to appointment. A driving licence is essential due to our rural location. The most important personal attributes will be flexibility, good humour and energy, as well as good emotional self-regulation. As a close-knit hard-working team, reserves of ‘teacher power’ keep us all going! 

The opportunity 
This full-time Class Teacher post will be Main Pay Scale (currently £28,000-£38,810). Our welcoming and enabling work environment and culture are a significant benefit. A full programme of CPD guided by North Star Federation and St Benet’s North is in place and you can expect to be fully included. This post is initially offered as a maternity contract* from Easter for up to a year. Further opportunities may arise at our federation partner, The Belfry School in Overstrand.

*Please note, this appointment is temporary and will be to cover the post of Teacher whilst the substantive post holder is on maternity leave. It has an expected duration of 12 months or will cease on the return or resignation of the substantive post holder if this is earlier. Due to the nature of this post it is not possible to specify an exact duration but the continuing requirement for this post will be regularly reviewed and you will be given notice of any change in your circumstances in writing. You will be given notice of termination of the contract in accordance with section 19 below: 

Notice to Terminate Employment As the contract is to cover absence of the permanent postholder, you are required to give, and entitled to receive, one week’s notice. These periods of notice do not apply in the case of summary dismissal for gross misconduct. It is your employer’s right to provide a shorter period of notice provided payment in lieu of notice is given.
