SalaryRecovery Assistant, Stornoway
35 hours per week, Maternity Cover
£27,394 to £30,058 per annum (inclusive of £2,593 Distant Islands Allowance per annum)
Based in Stornoway, you will contribute to the delivery of the following functions:
- Non-Domestic rates (NDR) collection;
- Council Tax debt recovery;
- Sundry Debt recovery;
- Housing Benefit Overpayment debt recovery;
- Dealing with customer enquiries and liaison with the Comhairle’s Customer Services Team;
- Liaison with Sheriff Officers and Comhairle’s internal legal team;
- Implementation of current Debt Recovery Policy;
- Revenue Income Optimisation;
- Testing of changes to IT Systems.
You should be educated to HNC level or have proven relevant working experience. You must have a good knowledge of the income collected by a local authority and the ability to update knowledge through undertaking training or research.
It is essential you are able to achieve recovery performance targets, can explain the revenues system clearly to customers and have the ability to handle situations where customers may be upset, angry or aggressive.
Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. This post is Fixed Term for the duration of the maternity leave of the current post holder.
