Form of workThe candidate will require experience in Dentistry, anaesthesia and theatre practice or have a keen interest to develop within this area. You will help to facilitate the efficient and effective flow of patients through the Dental and theatre suites, whilst ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to patients.
We are looking for a nurse looking with a desire to focus their knowledge on all aspects of Dental and anaesthesia nursing, protocols, and procedures to ensure the highest standard of care is provided.
Expected responsibilities include:
- Working alongside lead nurses, clinicians, nurses, and PCAs to provide the highest quality of care for all surgical patients
- Set up dental and theatre suites for that day
- Carry out oral health assessments
- Carry out nurse led dental procedures (scale & polish/charting/dental radiography and nurse dental consults)
- Monitor and maintain anaesthesia
- Maintenance of dentistry kits - up to date kit lists, kit storage maintained, training for new team members
- Ensure precise, efficient and accurate patient handovers are carried out
- Accurate record keeping, especially with regard to kennel sheets, anaesthetic sheets and hospitalisation records
- Completing maintenance checks on all dental/surgical equipment and follow up on faulty/broken equipment
- Maintenance of hygiene in preps dental suite and surgical theatres - completing all daily/monthly infection control checklists
- Ensure all safety checklists are complete prior to anaesthesia - anaesthesia machine and patients
- Complete relevant CPD with support from the large bank of resources at Linnaeus and share learnings across the team
- Aid with the completion of clinical audits
- Effectively communicate with clients to ensure smooth and efficient patient journey
- Provide in house dental clinics for clients and patients
- Train other team members in carrying our dental nurse clinics
- and improving where possible
- Involvement in aiding in research and development within the veterinary sector in multiple disciplines, as well as supported self-clinical progression
- Engage with practice projects such as: PSS, CFC, DFC, RFC, IIE Bronze etc.
- Encourage and participate in the use of VetSafe
- Comply with the Health and Safety policies for the different areas of the practice/ hospital.
- Adhere to confidentiality relating to all aspect of the business including complying with and assisting with all requirements relating to GDPR compliance.
- Interest in being a clinical coach or mentor.
The successful candidate must have a love of working within an extremely varied and fast paced environment with a team of like-minded people. We are looking for someone who will not only go above and beyond for our patients, but for their colleagues too. Experience working in a hospital is beneficial but not essential as comprehensive training from our highly experienced team will be provided. Candidates must be qualified RVNs and will be proactive, enthusiastic, approachable, a great team player, able to use their own initiative and self-motivated. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task with a flexible approach to working are essential.
