Job description

HSBC Corporate Banking in the UK provides both domestic and international Commercial Banking services to our existing and prospective clients.

The role of a Relationship Director is to engage with our existing and prospective customers to help them realise their ambitions. Customer portfolios will consist of both domestic and international relationships and will involve managing all aspects of the relationship including portfolio management, identifying opportunities for growth, and a firm grasp of operational and credit risk. To be successful in this role you will create and maintain strong and evolving partnerships internally and externally.

Your responsibilities will include:

•    Focus on growing the business sustainably, by identifying opportunities to expand a portfolio and broadening client relationships by leveraging HSBC's extensive network.
•    Be an ambassador for HSBC and develop the bank’s profile in the local business and wider community.
•    Supporting customers and placing their needs at the forefront of all that we do, setting world class standards.
•    Seeking new opportunities and nurturing existing relationships to identify new business opportunities.
•    Building a network of business introducers in the local professional and business community. 
•    Adhere to structures and processes in place for the management of credit, operational, reputation, financial crime, and regulatory risk.
•    Collaborate with product partners to assess needs of international and domestic customers and offer appropriate solutions.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

•    Experience working in a relevant role within Corporate Banking/Business Banking/Financial Services is essential.
•    Proven ability in identifying and meeting customer’s needs and generating complex lending both monetary and applying appropriate products and solutions to help customers realise their dreams and ambitions.
•    Ability to build effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same.
•    A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes. 
•    Highly skilled at building and managing complex relationships. 
•    Self-driven with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and work collaboratively to deliver to deadlines. 
•    Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – and an ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
•    Comprehensive credit and related transactional skills and knowledge are essential.

The base location for this role can be flexible with offices Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter.   Clients are based throughout the South West and Wales.

A hybrid working arrangement is available with an expectation of a varied working week including working between home and the office base and visiting clients.
