About us The UCL Dementia Research Centre (DRC) is a hub for clinical research into various forms of dementia. Our work focuses on identifying and understanding the disease processes that cause dementia, the factors that influence these disease processes, and how best to support people with dementia and their families. In addition to our research, we also provide a cognitive disorders clinic within the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. About the role We have an exciting position for a Research Assistant to join the Dementia Research Centre to work on the Alzheimer’s Research UK-funded project titled "From group-level to individual-specific brain signatures in sporadic FTLD-associated disorders". The project will be supervised by Dr Bocchetta and aims to uncover the neuroanatomical variability among individuals suffering from sporadic frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD). The post is available from 01 September 2024 and funded by Alzheimer’s Research UK until 15 August 2025 in the first instance. About you You will hold an Honours Degree (minimum 2:1) in Neuroscience, Neuroimaging, or a related discipline, and have experience of working with MRI data and in neuroimaging processing with FreeSurfer or any similar neuroimaging software. Knowledge of neuroanatomy and dementia-related brain changes, excellent IT skills (including a working knowledge of Linux or Unix-based systems), and the ability to perform independent statistical analysis is also essential for this role. This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role. What we offer Starting salary offered between £37,332 - £37,982 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
