About the role:

We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to join the School of Population Health Sciences. As a Research Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating our research efforts to innovate and evaluate digital therapeutic interventions. Your contributions will support our research activities, spanning from participant recruitment to the management of our projects. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, and research software engineers, ensuring the smooth progression of projects from inception to completion.

Responsibilities include:

    Implement strategies for the effective recruitment of study participants, ensuring diverse and representative sample sizes.

    Assist in preparing and submitting ethics applications and ensure all research activities comply with university policies.

    Support the planning and execution of research projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and progress monitoring.

    Participate in data collection processes and contribute to the analysis and interpretation of research data.

    Assist in the preparation of research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences.

The ideal candidate will possess:

    Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Public Health, Psychology, Biostatistics, or a related discipline).

    Experience in research environments, preferably within health sciences.

    Familiarity with digital health technologies and their application in therapeutic context.

    Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Proficient in data analysis software and tools is desirable.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria

  • A Master’s degree in Public Health, Psychology, Biostatistics, or a closely related discipline, ensuring a strong foundational knowledge in relevant subject areas.
  • Knowledge of digital health technologies and their application in therapeutic contexts, highlighting an understanding of the research area’s focus.
  • Strong organisational abilities, including the management of multiple tasks simultaneously, project scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members, writing research findings, and presenting data.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting ethics applications, with a strong understanding of ethical standards in research.
  • Proficiency in participating in data collection processes and contributing to the analysis and interpretation of research data.
  • Ability to assist in the preparation of research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and for presentation at national and international conferences.
  • Capability to implement effective recruitment strategies to ensure diverse and representative sample sizes for research studies.
