SALARY: £33,966 - £39,347 per annum, pro rata
GRADE: 7
REPORTING TO: Line Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
The University College is currently applying for a number of funded research projects to run through the 2024-25 academic year.
If successful, these will require a Research Fellow/fellows to manage the day-to-day running of the projects under the direction Principal Investigator (PI).
Posts will be casual (i.e. recruited as and when the need arises) for a fixed term until 31st July 2025, and hours will be dependent upon project needs. Working days will be mutually agreed, and there is no obligation to agree to undertake work whilst held on the Register.
Main Duties and Accountabilities:
Manage the day-to-day operation of a funded research project under the direction of the Line Manager/Principal Investigator to include the following:
- Responsibility for the day-to-day management of the research project, maintaining regular communication with the Principal Investigator.
- Lead on the detailed research design in line with the agreed project specification
- Prepare the ethics application and other necessary approval paperwork
- Undertake literature searches/ policy reviews
- Design and pilot research instruments e.g. online surveys, interview questions
- Coordinate and assist with face-to-face and online data collection
- Lead the analysis of qualitative and quantitative research data using appropriate software.
- In conjunction with the Line Manager, oversee the work of the grade 4 research assistant(s) (where appointed) engaged in data collection/input providing guidance, training and support and ensuring the work is completed to a high standard within requisite timescales.
- Support the PI in complying with / meeting the conditions of the grant contract e.g. meeting strict deadlines, reporting periods, data handling and disposal requirements etc.
- Draft sections of the interim and final report (including executive summary and press release) and present reports to relevant stakeholders as required.
- Liaise with the funder and other relevant internal and external stakeholders

- To undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Line Manager/PI
