Background
We have an opportunity for a Senior Research Assistant to work with Dr Mandie Scamell in an NIHR funded diagnostic accuracy, acceptability study: Diagnostic accuracy of handheld ultrasound at 36 weeks of gestation to determine fetal presentation (Sono-breech study).
Applications are invited from candidates with experience in health related research. You will need drive, enthusiasm, be able to work independently, be an excellent communicator and be highly competent in qualitative research methods.
Responsibilities
The research assistant will contribute to every aspect of the acceptability study, including project planning, participant recruitment, fieldwork, data collection, management and analysis, and preparation of publications for high impact journals.
The Research Fellow will work directly with the acceptability study lead, Dr Mandie Scamell from the School for Health & Psychological Sciences, City, University of London and the trial managers, Julia Townson and Eleri Owen-Jones from the Centre for Trials Research, College of Biomedical and Life Sciences, Cardiff University.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have a PhD in a health or social science related discipline and have experience in using qualitative research methods. They will be competent and confident in working with those using the health or social care services, as well as health/social care staff at all levels of the organisation and be able to communicate respectfully in a sensitive and effective manner. The postholder will be able and willing to travel to hospital sites across the UK.
