Job summary
Are you passionate about supporting the delivery of cutting-edge biomedical research? As Research Programme Coordinator for the Institute of Clinical Sciences (ICS) and MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS), you will bring your research experience and influencing skills to support the delivery of our ambitious research strategy. Under the direction of Professor Wiebke Arlt, the ICS/LMS is focused on addressing research challenges to understand sex differences in biology and disease, cell identity across the life course and gene–environment interactions. To deliver impact in these areas, you will provide direct support to the Head of Operations to manage the delivery of the priorities for the LMS Senior Leadership Team. You will also be responsible for the project management of a portfolio of activities that support networking and collaboration of LMS scientists with those across Imperial College London and externally. This will include face-to-face networking meetings, such as thematic steering groups, Challenge conferences, workshops, showcasing events and bi-annual Institute Retreat.
Duties and responsibilities
In this role you will directly support the research mission and staff in the ICS/LMS by maximising chances of funding success. You will:
- Provide project management support for the delivery of networking activities, including operational delivery and logistics, and communications to participants. Provide briefings for key stakeholders, including theme leads to aid the delivery of networking activities.
- Plan and manage budgets for networking events, including sourcing external event spaces.
- To engage with funders to include them in the programme of events, as appropriate.
- Post-event review and evaluation to ensure continuous process improvement.
- Work closely with the Head of Operations to deliver the Senior Leadership Team work plan, including annual operational planning.
Essential requirements
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent, preferably in a science subject
- Experience in planning and delivering research focused workshops and events
- An understanding of project management and project management tools
- Experience delivering written and face-to-face briefings for senior stakeholders.
