About this role:

Are you passionate about keeping things in use and out of the bin?

Do you want to make a tangible difference in the field of Sustainability?

We are looking for someone who can practically support reuse activity at UWE Bristol. This role ranges from managing our Sustainability Hub on Frenchay Campus (3 days per week) to enabling internal furniture reuse and networking with charities to find a home for items the university no longer needs. We need someone who is organised, detail driven and able to help deliver meaningful Circular Economy activity. This is a varied role with a mix of practical work – dealing with physical items and getting these reused; interacting and communicating with people – both internally and externally; and some desk based work relating to cataloguing and data capture.

The Sustainability Hub is a swap shop on campus where students and staff can exchange quality reused items, including clothes, books, small electricals and kitchen crockery. This role will manage the Hub which is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week; ensuring it is well stocked, recruiting and supporting Hub volunteers and providing excellent customer service.

About you:

You will be interested in reuse and keeping items in use for as long as possible, with the ability to communicate this to staff and students to help enhance perceptions of reused items. You will be able to network effectively to link UWE Bristol to external organisations with the aim of building long term partnerships. Your attention to detail will ensure accurate information on reuse activity e.g. numbers of items, end destination.

Where is this role based?

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed.
