About the role
The Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.
This is an exciting time to join MOPAC, to drive the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan for London. We are a dedicated, professional, highly skilled workforce and are committed to equality and diversity.
You'll be joining the MOPAC Directorate of Audit, Risk and Assurance, a well-respected unit that has the interesting and challenging job of providing the internal audit service for a number of clients including the Metropolitan Police Service, the London Fire Brigade and the Greater London Authority.
You will help identify key business risks to clients, evaluate and test their controls and identify areas of improvement; something you'll do by planning and carrying out programmed audit assignments across a wide range of business areas. This offers you a rich variety of challenges and the opportunity to drive positive change in clients' service delivery, along with possible progression to a senior auditor role (subject to meeting additional requirements).
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:
A good level of practical internal auditing experience. A thorough understanding of risk-based auditing and knowledge of Internal Audit standards and procedures. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. An analytical and enquiring mind with the ability to interpret key information. A recognised qualification (minimum of CIA/PIIA or equivalent, for example AAT/CIPFA) together with membership of the appropriate professional body. Reward and Benefits
In addition to a competitive salary, we offer an attractive range of benefits, including 32.5 days' annual leave, a civil service pension scheme, flexible working arrangements, an interest-free season ticket loan, access to discounts via our corporate benefits hub and employee wellbeing support.
