Risk and Business Continuity Manager
Job Description
The Role
You will be supporting the Head of Risk & Legal Compliance (HRLC) by managing the Business Continuity and Crisis Management program for SUSE and providing support on a wide range of risk management, governance and compliance processes.
The role requires a proactive, collaborative, results-driven individual who can engage effectively with stakeholders to develop pragmatic, cohesive solutions. The individual needs to be open to learning and expanding their skillset into new and sometimes unfamiliar areas as the business develops and matures.
The role sits within the legal function, reporting into the head of corporate Risk and legal compliance.
This is a hybrid role, you will be required to be in the office with the HRLC as needed, so a reasonable proximity to Staines, Surrey is required.
Focus Area
Business Continuity Management will comprise approximately 50% of the role.
You will:
Work with business teams to conduct Business Impact Assessments (BIAs) and risk assessments, identify critical services, define recovery objectives, and map critical dependencies.
Facilitate Business Continuity exercises and tests, to identify potential gaps in plans and work with business owners to improve the maturity of SUSE’s BCM program.
Develop and maintain strategic crisis management processes including playbooks for Executive and senior management and training and awareness programs.
Support organisation-wide resiliency initiatives by working with stakeholders across the business including IT Cyber Security and Service Delivery, Facilities, Health & Safety, Internal Audit, Data Privacy and other crisis management functions, to create a cohesive approach to business resilience.
Participate as a member of the Incident Management teams in response to disruptive events.
In addition to this core BCP role, you will support the HRLC on a number of Risk and governance related topics (which may evolve and expand over time). These include:
Development and maintenance of operational risk registers and quarterly reporting to the Risk and Compliance Committee
Supporting the Group Insurance program and coordinating information flows to our broker, particularly at renewal time
Assisting with the development and maintenance of governance and compliance programs, including delegations of authority schedules, Group policies, compliance with export regulations
Supporting external stakeholder requirements including ISO / other certification audits and responses to customer due diligence queries
Preferred Experience & Skills
Excellent understanding and experience of BCM principles and best practices and at least 5 years’ experience working in Business Resilience / Crisis Management roles.
Track record of facilitating Business and Cyber resiliency exercises with senior business leaders, technology and operational teams
Strong relationship management, interpersonal and leadership skills
Good understanding of operational risk management and control frameworks
Strong oral and written communication and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Knowledge and experience of governance and legal compliance processes is a plus but not a must. However, an open mindset, curiosity, and willingness to learn and develop these skills is essential.
A hands-on, pragmatic approach that is focused on outcomes and solutions.
Ability to work under pressure and thrive in a sometimes challenging and unpredictable environment.
