Your Role and Responsibilities:
As a Risk Manager, you will:
- Develop and Implement Strategies: Support and lead the development of Pool Re’s risk management strategy and plan.
- Lead Assessments and Reviews: Drive the quarterly Risk and Control Self-Assessment, implement risk event processes, and support control rectification.
- Enhance Frameworks: Develop and implement the second line assurance framework, including thematic reviews and control testing.
- Manage Emerging Risks: Lead the emerging risk process and develop Pool Re’s Stress and Scenario Testing framework.
- Engage Stakeholders: Work closely with key stakeholders to monitor, review, and report key risk indicators.
- Conduct Deep Dives: Perform in-depth reviews of identified risk areas, generate reports, and ensure action completion.
- Support Reporting: Assist in the Risk and Capital Assessment (equivalent of an ORSA) process and reporting.
- Coordinate Audits: Oversee the provision of the outsourced internal audit function, ensuring effective planning and delivery.
Promote a Positive Company Culture:
- Communicate effectively about risk management strategy, policies, and procedures.
- Organise training and mentoring sessions on risk issues for Pool Re staff.
- Maintain a network within the risk management community and fulfil CPD requirements.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Identify and manage controls in alignment with the corporate risk register.
- Conduct quarterly self-assessments and attestations of owned controls.
- Collaborate with the 2nd and 3rd Lines of Defence to complete control testing and implement improvements.
What We Are Looking For:
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Education and Qualifications: Strong command of spoken and written English.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of the UK regulatory framework for insurance companies; familiarity with Solvency II is a plus.
- IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience: Demonstrable experience in a commercial insurer, reinsurer, or broker focusing on risk management and compliance. Understanding of the UK insurance market and the legal and commercial aspects of insurance and reinsurance.
- Personal Attributes: Strong intellect with a practical problem-solving approach, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to build and maintain professional relationships, proactive, and highly organised.
Desirable:
- ACII, IRM qualification, or accountancy certification.
