Sales Manager
Role Overview
A Sales Manager who can execute the business growth plan by maximising existing client relationships and through the commercialisation of significant new business development opportunities, particularly in the offshore and marine diesel power markets for all products, for both the Part Sales and Service departments.
Location - This role is based from home but will require extensive travel around the UK and Europe where necessary and at least 1 visit to Head Office in Newcastle per month.
Main duties of the Sales Manager
- Develop new client opportunities, building credible relationships with decision makers and key influencers, within offshore and marine markets
- Supporting the creation and implementing a strategic business development plan for the business unit
- Maximise existing client relationships, exploiting all opportunities for additional supply, installation, repair and maintenance business and promoting our relationship with partners in the UK and Europe where necessary
- Upselling our workshop capabilities including fuel injection, component, turbo charger servicing as well as spare parts
- Promote enginei with existing and new clients, cross selling
- Working closely with operational engineering colleagues, ensure that service offerings continue to be aligned with evolving client needs
- Develop and then manage the sales process, positioning the client offering and developing the client relationship management competence to maximise revenues
- Contribute to the long term development of the business as part of the senior team
- Appropriate administration, budgeting, monitoring, reporting and communication
- Keep abreast of technical developments within the industry, including current and future legislation
- Sales/commercial management support to company dealers
Critical Success Factors
- Generate new business of £500k or greater in first 12 months
- 40 customer / prospect visits per month
- Target a minimum of 12 new fleet customers per annum (vessels operating in UK/European waters)
- Support the preparation and completion of sales development plans and budgets
- Responsible for preparation of sales development plan and budgets
- Development of major accounts
- Support marketing strategy
- Weekly and Monthly report of activity, opportunities, sales values, business won / lost
- Achieving the annual sales target and budget
Skills and Experience Required
- Sales management professional
- Medium and High Speed engine knowledge
- Offshore and marine diesel sector knowledge
- Relevant major contacts in the UK and overseas
- Track record in developing direct business with key accounts and influencing external stakeholders
- Skills in promoting and sustaining a 'customer first’ culture
- Experience in developing new routes to market
- Management skills including recruitment, motivation, training and development
- Excellent communication skills
- Presentation skills
