Tradewind Recruitment is working with an excellent school located in Croydon, seeking a highly organised Attendance Officer to join their talented, hard-working team immediately.
The school has recently joined a new Trust, known for their enviable reputation and high academic standards, and are looking to accelerate their development to achieve more in the future. Driving improvements in School Attendance is a key aspect of the school's ambition to be Ofsted Outstanding. Your new role will form an integral part of this plan.
Main duties:
- Liaise with stakeholders regarding attendance issues
- Ensure reasons for absence are chased and logged on SIMS
- Maintain contact with form tutors, offering advice on how they can improve tutee attendance
- Monitor and report attendance
- Hold parental meetings where attendance/punctuality is an issue
- Conduct home visits when needed to support students and families in making improvements in attendance
- Ensure letters and phone calls are made home to support attendance
- Prepare necessary papers for rare cases that proceed to court
Requirements:
- Strong all-round administrative skills
- Confident communicator
- Positive attitude with solution-driven approach to problems
- Adhere to strict confidentiality of information received and processed
- Desirable: A knowledge of SIMS database (or similar e.g. Bromcom) and experience working in a school setting.
