Temporary Attendance Officer / Administrator

A large, prestigious private school in the Thorpe area are looking for a long term temporary Attendance Officer to to check attendance in the school for compliance with the Department of Educations requirements. Previous experience is a definite advantage but not necessary.

The role is office based 8.00-5.00 Monday to Friday working term time only£13.50 per hour. Previous experience of working within the education, healthcare or care industries would be also be looked on favourably, as would knowledge of safeguarding.

The key skills required are strong IT and database skills, excellent communication skills, resilience, empathy, attention to detail and an inquisitive nature.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

? Check the attendance system at every period, morning and afternoon, for compliance with the Department of Education (DfE) requirement for attendance records;

? Ensure class registers are checked for each lesson where students require frequent monitoring. Liaise with the US Dean of Student Life to locate missing students promptly and, update as necessary the Upper School Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (US DDSL);

? Liaise with the Health Centre daily on student absentees;

? For students whose attendance is being monitored, on a daily basis report unplanned absences and other concerns to the US Dean of Student Life;

? Respond to parent emails regarding absences or requests for early dismissal;

? Check the authenticity of parent/guardian email requests for student absence;

? Amend the previous day’s late attendance / absentees;

? Collate and make all arrangements for detention,

? Update the Learning Management System (LMS) / attendance system with field trips / planned absences to alert faculty of the student’s absence from school;

? Scan Planned Absence Forms (PAF) to the attendance email account and file appropriately; and

? Run end of the day reports for daily attendance, including a Daily Class Attendance query, and where appropriate send emails to parents and students for resolution;

? Compile a weekly report for the US Dean of Student Life for student attendance below 90% along with explanations.
