School Health Service Safeguarding & Vulnerable Child Team Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (school Nurse or Health Visitor) with extensive experience in Leadership and management to join our friendly and dynamic School Health Safeguarding Team as the Safeguarding team Manager. Safeguarding experience is an essential requirement of the role as the role involves working closely with children, young people and their families to improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities in the culturally diverse school aged population of Lewisham
The role involves working closely with the Community Matron for School Health Service and Immunisation Service and other Team Managers for School Health and Immunisations.
The Safeguarding Team Manager will be responsible for the day to day operational management and clinical leadership of the School Health Safeguarding Team reporting to the the Community Matron for School Health. The role entails having a 40% clinical caseload and 60% management caseload.
You will need to have the ability to work autonomously and as part of an integrated skill mix team. You need to have excellent communication skills and experience of working in partnership across organizational boundaries. You need to be willing to facilitate and support change in service delivery.

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day operational management and clinical leadership of the School Health team for children and young people in Lewisham.
You will act as a nurse specialist and exemplar for best practice for the team and within the service.
The post holder will support service delivery through a corporate caseload model of practice. The post holder will be responsible to Band 8 Community Matron/Lead for School Health and Immunisations within the children division Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. (Lewisham
borough)
The post holder will hold an overview of School Health Safeguarding team caseload).
The service will be provided to mainstream primary and secondary schools in Lewisham.
The Post Holder will demonstrate a drive and motivation to provide responsive services that meet the needs of the cohort identified in the service contract.
You will support the Community Matron for School Health and Immunisations with operational planning and delivery model of service in response to identified need and commissioning requirements.
You will work with colleagues within Lewisham and Greenwich
NHS trust and other providers of services for children and young people attending Lewisham schools to support a seamless service.
A key outcome for this post is to develop and provide services to improve outcomes in short and long term health and wellbeing for children and young people in Lewisham.
You will need to work with key partners both inside and external to the organisation; schools, education, public health and children’s social care to develop effective partnership working to enhance the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Lewisham .
As the Team Manager you will lead the skill mixed teams in delivering services to Lewisham children and young people providing:
  • “no wrong door” ethos and a first point of contact for children and families with the service contract.
Close partnership working with schools, access to children young people and parents or carers needing health advice or information.
Supporting children and young people with on-going or specific need including those who are vulnerable including the overarching safeguarding and child protection agenda.
Supporting safeguarding children and young people with medical needs to access and achieve in education.
Initiating and supporting activities for promoting health.
