Business Analyst, Finance


The Business Analyst will support change initiatives in MRSG. This role is key in enabling change across the group. The successful candidate will endeavour to improve technology, processes and people.


The Role


  • Work on specific MRSG initiatives, operational tasks and R&D work.
  • Elicit, analyse, validate, document, manage and explain business requirements based on project objectives.
  • Provide operational expertise in insurance (finance).
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders and manage stakeholder needs.
  • Overcome project impediments and report regularly on progress.
  • Contribute to product roadmap and backlog.
  • Perform analysis using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Provide timely updates on opportunities, risks, issues and progress.
  • Produce and manage requirements/user stories and acceptance criteria from undefined and unstructured information on strategic projects and programmes.
  • Any additional duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be expected to be undertaken in accordance with the role.
  • Help drive forward good conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.


What we are looking for


Essential

  • Insurance experience
  • Experience in delivering Finance projects
  • Strong detailed portfolio of projects and experience where they have led on collating requirements
  • Experience of complex eco-systems / system integrations.
  • Knowledge of insurance policy administration, policy lifecycles and workflows.
  • Skilled at meeting facilitation and presentation.
  • Strong time management skills and project management skills.
  • Understanding of the requirements lifecycle.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, time-compressed and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for delivery of requirements.


Business Situation Analysis

  • Plans, manages and investigates business situation analysis where there is significant ambiguity and complexity.
  • Understanding of Business problems and investigating root causes.
  • Advises on the approach and techniques to be used for business situation analysis. Ensures holistic view adopted to identify and analyse wide-ranging problems and opportunities.
  • Engages and collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders, including those at the management level. Gains agreement from stakeholders to conclusions and recommendations.


Feasibility Assessment

  • Manages investigative work to enable feasibility assessments.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and specialists to get the information required for feasibility assessment.
  • Advises on the selection of feasibility assessment approaches and techniques relevant to the business situation and options.
  • Prepares cost/benefit analysis, impact and risk analysis for each option.


Requirements Definition and Management

  • Plans and drives scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for large, complex initiative.
  • Selects, adopts and adapts appropriate requirements definition and management methods, tools and techniques.
  • Obtains input from, and agreement to requirements from a diverse range of stakeholders. Negotiates with stakeholders to manage competing priorities and conflicts.
  • Establishes requirements baselines. Ensures changes to requirements are investigated and managed.
  • Conducts advanced modelling activities for significant change programmes and across multiple business functions.
  • Plans own modelling activities, selecting appropriate techniques and the correct level of detail for meeting assigned objectives. May contribute to discussions about the choice of modelling approach.
  • Obtains input from and communicates modelling results to senior managers for agreement.


User Experience Analysis

  • Selects appropriate techniques and tools to develop user stories and elicit user experience requirements in complex situations.
  • Identifies and describes the design goals for systems, products, services and devices.
  • Identifies the roles of affected stakeholder groups. Resolves potential conflicts between differing user requirements.
  • Specifies measurable criteria for the required usability and accessibility of systems, products, services and devices.


Consultancy

  • Takes responsibility for understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution.
  • Identifies, evaluates and recommends options.
  • Collaborates with, and facilitates stakeholder groups, as part of formal or informal consultancy agreements. Seeks to fully address client needs and implements solutions if required.
  • Enhances the capabilities and effectiveness of clients, by ensuring that proposed solutions are fully understood and appropriately exploited.


Benefits Management

  • Leads activities required in the realisation of the benefits of each part of the change programme.
  • Identifies specific metrics and mechanisms to measure benefits and plans to activate these mechanisms at the required time. Monitors benefits against what was predicted in the business case.
  • Ensures that all participants are engaged throughout the change programme and fully prepared to exploit the new operational business environment.
  • Supports operational managers to ensure that all plans, work packages and deliverables are aligned with the expected benefits.


Desirable

  • Appreciation of finance integrations and how they interact with other areas of the business.
  • Ability to switch between strategic level and a detailed level.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience conforming product definition to regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience/Knowledge of structured or un-structured database architecture.
  • Business Analysis qualifications (IIBA, ISEB, CBAP, IREB).
  • A background and understanding of Lloyds
