A market leading and reputable mid-sized fine art Auction House based in London is looking for a Senior Business Manager. The business has expanded substantially in recent years developing a number of successful specialist departments, including, amongst others Jewellery, Islamic Art, Chinese and Japanese , Modern British Art and many others . With a rich history and a strong commitment to excellence, we are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to assume the role of Senior Business Manager. The role is expected to progress towards Managing Director within a short time frame.
As the Senior Business Manager , you will play a pivotal role alongside the CEO/Owner in shaping the strategic direction of the company, overseeing day-to-day operations, and driving growth and profitability. The ideal candidate will have either a proven track record in the auction industry, or a similar sized SME business. Most importantly you will demonstrate strong leadership skills, business acumen, and ideally a passion, or interest in fine art, antiques and collectibles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- As the Senior Business Manager you will work with the CEO & Owner to further develop this strategy to take the business to the next level.
- Provide visionary leadership to the team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Identify new market opportunities and areas for business expansion.
2. Operational Management:
- Oversee the efficient and effective functioning of all Auction House operations.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality services to clients, consignors, and buyers.
- Implement and enhance operational processes to optimise efficiency and client satisfaction.
3. Financial Management:
- Develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and key performance indicators.
- Monitor financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Explore revenue-generating initiatives and cost-saving measures.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, consignors, and key stakeholders.
- Enhance the Auction House's reputation by providing exceptional customer service and fostering positive experiences.
5. Marketing and Brand Development:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement strategic marketing plans.
- Enhance the Auction House's brand visibility and reputation through effective marketing and public relations efforts.
6. Team Leadership and Development & HR
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting professional development and employee engagement.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience
- Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound business decisions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
- Demonstrated success in team leadership and development.
- Results-driven with a focus on achieving business goals and objectives.
- An understanding of art, antiques, and collectibles is desirable
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Art History, or a related field or possibly an accountancy qualification.
- Extensive experience in a leadership role within an SME business , auction experience advantageous, but not necessary
- Knowledge of current market trends and industry best practices.
