We are working with Rochdale Council to find a fully qualified Senior Finance Officer on an interim basis.
Length of role: Initial 2 months. Potential for extension.
Umbrella day rate: £250- £300 per day.
Location: Hybrid. 3 days per week minimum in Rochdale Office.
Hours: 9-5 Monday to Friday.
The role:
Rochdale Borough Council are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Officer to support the year end processes within the Finance Service. The role is required to assist with the year-end accounting requirements for several Services.
The Senior Finance Officer sits within the Economy & Place Directorate and reports to the Senior Accountant.
Economy & Place covers several services, and the Senior Finance Officer will predominately support Highways & Engineering, Strategic Housing, Properties, and Street Lighting. The role will be expected to support other Services if necessary to ensure a successful year end close down.
Key Duties:
• Managing Year End Accruals/Prepayments with supporting working files/documentation for Audit.
• Posting of journals, virements.
• Completing Revenue/Capital grant analysis.
• Ensuring regulatory paperwork is collated where appropriate.
• Conducting Balance Sheet Reviews.
• Maintaining working files/documentation for Audit.
• Adding notes to the accounts.
• Preparing Revenue Budget & Revenue Outturn forms.
• Preparing Service combined Income & Expenditure statement.
• Forecasting.
• Any other duties as required by the line manager.
Experiences required:
• CCAB qualified accountant (preferably CIPFA).
• Extensive public sector experience (ideally local government).
• Proficiency in financial reporting, analysis, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent team player with a positive attitude.
