We currently have an opportunity for a senior individual with a strong track record of achievement in Internal Communications and/or change communications in a fast paced corporate or professional services environment and strong experience of influencing senior leaders to join our team as a Senior Internal Communications Manager - Merger Integration on a fixed term contract until the end of 2024.
In May 2023, we announced our intention to merge with Shearman & Sterling to create a new industry leader – A&O Shearman – one of the only truly integrated law firms. This role will develop and deliver integrated strategic communications plans and content that meet the combined A&O and Shearman & Sterling integration requirements. We require someone with experience of a fast-moving business environment undergoing a large programme of change.
Role and responsibilities
- Create and deliver a measurable and impactful partner communications program with a focus on the integration planning period and beyond, which excites, engages and informs in alignment with the combined firm’s goals and the Merger Integration communications strategy.
- Provide expert advice and copywriting support to the Team Lead, Senior Internal Communications Manager and Senior Internal Communications Manager – People.
- Project manage the Global Partner Conference in conjunction with wider project team, delivering the supporting partner communications and firmwide Internal Communications.
- Provide support and solutions as necessary on ad-hoc projects and activities.
- Be a key player in our global Internal Communications team, ensuring alignment of messages that support the combined firm’s wider brand and reputation.
- Foster strong relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues in communications across both firms, in London and our global network.
- Keep ahead of the latest internal communication expertise to ensure best practice is always used.
- Keep ahead of the latest global industry and wider market trends, ensuring our Internal Communications are always proactive.
Key requirements
- Strong track record of achievement in Internal Communications and/or change communications in a fast paced corporate or professional services environment
- Strong experience of influencing senior leaders
- Significant experience of fully managing and delivering content for set pieces, such as global townhalls
- An exceptional copywriter for all audiences
- High degree of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
- A highly collaborative team player
- Confidence and the ability to juggle multiple requests, prioritise and act quickly to meet tight deadlines
- Proactive, positive, always seeking a better way
