Job Description

CORE POWER is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Engineering Lead to join our dynamic team. As an Engineering Lead you will be responsible for ownership for the design development and integration of Core Power’s Power Conversion Systems (PCS) and Balance Of Plant (BOP) design packages. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and experience in design development in both marine and nuclear industries. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to lead technically in an emerging market.


Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the development of Core Power’s PCS and BOP work packages.

- Author work specification for the procurement of technical services and manage contract execution.

- Discharge the intelligent customer role in the plant development and delivery.

- Mentor junior team members and provide authoritative guidance to teammates in topics related to area of expertise.

- Liaise with stakeholder; designers, classification societies, regulators, potential customers and nuclear technology developers to manage evolving requirements.

- Support Core Power’s market development efforts.


Job Requirements

- Masters in mechanical engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent. A PhD in Engineering or Physics is highly desirable.

- Substantial experience in the nuclear and / or marine industry in roles of significant responsibility.


Required Skills / Experience

· Significant experience in managing design projects against evolving design requirements. Starting with early design stages (ideas / pre-concepts) and progressing to prototype and commercialisation.

· Experience in authoring work specifications for technical service providers, supporting tendering process and overseeing the execution of contracts against contractual requirements.

· Intelligent customer experience

· Design experience preferably gained in the nuclear and / or marine Industry.

· General understanding of nuclear safety design principles, nuclear regulatory frameworks and relevant design codes and standards.

· Experience in the qualification of new technology is highly desirable.

· Experience with working in a multi-disciplinary team and contributing to a holistic design objective.

· Proven leader with track record of team development, continuous improvement and project execution.


Desired Skills / Experience

· Program Management Professional Certification via Program Management Institute (or equivalent)

· Able to manage a design against evolving requirements. This includes the configuration and management of variations to engineering models and drawings.

· Comfortable with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, preferably SolidWorks and / or AutoCAD.

· Comfortable with first-principle engineering calculations (all disciplines) and correct implementation of numerical analysis software (mechanical, structural and Process).

· Able to articulate technical risks and issues in a clear concise way.

· Good understanding of risk management in design and design development methods.

· Excellent project management and organisational skills.

· Critical thinking skills and ability to handle uncertainties.
