Job description

Job Description

London, Exeter, Corsham, Southampton, Cardiff - with an expectation that occasional site work and office work in other Ramboll UK offices will be required.

Are you keen to use your expertise where you can make a difference managing and delivering marine biodiversity projects? Can you apply innovative thinking to defining and communicating approaches to problem solving? Do you want to work on projects that have sustainability and biodiversity as their focus?

If this sounds like you, or you’re curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join our Ecosystems Solutions team as our new Senior Marine Biologist and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.

Your new role

As our new Senior Marine Biologist, you will be key player in a team of biologists/ecologists working on a range of projects spanning several sectors. To succeed in this role you must have an appropriate marine biology post-graduate qualification and be a Member of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management at the appropriate grade. We would particularly like to hear from you if you have experience of coastal and offshore bird ecology and/or assessing underwater noise impacts on mammals.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Planning and undertaking marine biology assessments and producing high quality reports
  • Devising mitigation designs
  • Liaising with regulators
  • Managing small to medium scale projects with input on large scale projects with the support of the marine biology lead
  • Main point of contact with Ramboll project managers, clients, partner organisations and sub-consultants
  • Delivering technical work on complex projects
  • Fee proposal preparation and assisting with client relationship management
  • Supervision and management of more junior staff and input to resource planning.
  • Carrying out such additional duties as may reasonably be required in this role

You will be part of a specialist team including ecologists, nature based solutions specialists and ecotoxicologists delivering work in support of sustainable development, including biodiversity net gain, natural capital accounting and ecosystem services. We are a growing, ambitious and diverse team with a unique integrated approach; the team is dynamic and friendly, delivering work for a range of clients.
Our team is small enough that you will get to know everyone and feel you have a significant role to play, big enough that there are people to bounce ideas off and with a range of different specialists and we are doing some interesting work on nature positive/corporate BNG work/renewables. There is an interesting variety of work and opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in a variety of other environmental disciplines.

About you

From the moment you start at Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development so that you can continue to grow with the company. Whilst we look forward to supporting your continued learning and development, for this role we have identified some qualifications, skills, and capabilities that will set you up for success.

These include:
