The Role:
The Design Conservation and Transport Team at Southwark Council are looking for a Design/Urban Design and Conservation specialist with a passion for strategic urban development and area character studies. The key workstreams of this new role includes:
- Providing complex Design and Conservation advice strategic urban developments
- To lead a team of professional planners in delivering an efficient planning service.
- Using a working knowledge of urban design, design coding and Conservation to deliver a programme area character studies and appraisals
- To attend and advise at formal meetings of the planning committee, Design Review Panel and other statutory and advisory bodies.
- Plan and deliver repairs and Conservation projects and Heritage at Risk following best practice.
- Using a creative and flexible approach to resolve issues, introduce innovation and promote service excellence.
About You:
The Design and ConservationSenior Planner will have a team of planners, graduates and apprentices to supervise who are all very enthusiastic about improving Southwark as a place for our residents and businesses. You will need to report to senior officers and elected members and you will need to liaise with communities, advisory bodies and developers enable the delivery of sustainable development in Southwark.
The Design Conservation and Transport Team is part of the Policy, Building Control and the Historic Environment team. This team delivers a range of services including managing planning applications and Listed Building Consents, providing specialist consultation advice, and overseeing the delivery of policy documents. This team is part of the Planning and Growth Division which leads on sustainable change and growth in Southwark.
