They provide tailored advice to their clients to deliver practical, well-engineered sustainable solutions. Their mission is to deliver comprehensive, cost effective and innovative advice to their clients, which is underpinned by sound knowledge of engineering and sustainable design, and which results in buildings, products and organisations that operate with a lower environmental impact.

Their success is underpinned by the creativity, enthusiasm, knowledge, and hard work of their staff who are at the centre of everything they do. Whilst they work hard, they also provide a flexible and caring work environment and support all members of staff to develop their professional knowledge and skills, whether technical, managerial, or commercial.

In addition, you will be expected to mentor more junior members of the team, have financial oversight over your projects, including invoicing and contribute to the development of the business through involvement in writing fee proposals, attending project interviews and fostering business relationships with both existing and potential clients.

  • Oversight and delivery of environmental assessment of buildings, using BREEAM, LEED and WELL standard including collation of evidence and certification.
  • Running workshops with client and design teams to review progress against the sustainability brief and building certification.
  • Coordination of sustainability strategies for projects through collaboration with other team members.
  • Coordination and delivery of sustainability services to support planning applications, including developing sustainability statements.
  • Provide consultancy advice on sustainable issues, including energy and carbon, health and wellbeing, circular economy strategies and social value.
  • Provide consultancy advice on corporate sustainability metrics, including ESG strategies for business, and corporate sustainability performance (e.g., GRESB).
  • Support contractors in the delivery of the sustainability brief, including monthly updates and site visits (if required).
  • Undertaking Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) of projects.
  • Development of standards and ongoing review of new sustainability trends to continuously improve the efficiency and quality of services.

General Responsibilities

  • Agree level of service and project outputs with your line manager/project lead for each project, including understanding the scope, timescales, and target profitability of each project.
  • Attend project meetings as required and present findings/progress reports.
  • Manage the budget of individual projects, including reporting to the management team on costs and progress.
  • Mentor junior members of staff, including supporting them to develop their own knowledge and expertise.
  • Monitor contract staff or third-party contractors as required for each project.
  • Support, assist and deputise to other members of the team as workload and/or circumstances require.
  • Maintain excellent client and delivery team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities where appropriate with existing and new clients.
  • Develop project proposals and attend project interviews and presentations as required.
  • Maintain and develop professional knowledge of energy, carbon and sustainability technologies, processes, and legislation and communicate the impacts to clients and project design teams.

Essential Skills

  • Have a good science, environmental, engineering, architecture, or energy degree.
  • At least 4-6 years' experience in a related role.
  • Certified assessor for at least one environmental or health & wellbeing accreditation scheme (e.g., BREEAM/ WELL/ LEED).

  • Track record of developing sustainability strategies.
  • Good understanding of the policy and regulatory landscape relating to sustainable buildings and building energy in the UK.
  • Good understanding of energy and sustainability planning policy, particularly in London and project experience of developing sustainability strategies for planning.
  • Clear communicator - comfortable with presenting to an audience (both written and verbally) on both technical and non-technical matters.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines, independently and as a team member or leader.
  • Good experience of analysing data using tools such as excel.
