Due to continued business growth, our marine client has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Engineer, to join their team based in Glasgow.
The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for the development of Floating Wind and other renewables research and development projects. This will include the engineering and development of new products to be brought to market to support the company’s entry into the floating offshore wind area alongside engineering consultancy and project delivery for existing and new clients including to support tendering activity in the renewables space.
The Senior Project Engineer role will include a combination of research, design and analysis combined with practical aspects such as prototype development and testing (for methods, software and physical products) in desktop, lab and operational environments, including offshore.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
Essential:
- Degree (2.1) in Engineering or Naval Architecture or equivalent.
- Substantial Engineering Experience.
- Broad Knowledge and Experience of Offshore Marine Operations.
- Experienced in managing multiple faced paced engineering projects.
- Experienced in Orcaflex.
- Effective/competent MS Office Suite User.
Desirable:
- Master of Engineering (Naval Architecture).
- Technical Analysis Knowledge.
- Offshore Survival Training & Necessary Medicals.
- Experienced in hydrodynamic / structural analysis software.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Ensure the technical requirements of all activities are managed and delivered in accordance with business and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain awareness of, and control exposure to, operational and commercial risk relating to the engineering function.
- Lead grant applications with regard to our Renewables service line.
- Propose, oversee and direct the technical work, ensuring service delivery, in accordance with client and company expectation, in a timely, accurate, safe and cost-effective manner.
- Responsibility for supporting policy development and implementing standards and procedures for the engineering technical work delivered by the company renewables function.
- Responsible and accountable for planning and delivery of engineering technical activities.
- Consult and negotiate with Clients regarding work specifications.
- Optimise the utilisation of resources to ensure revenues and profitability are maximised whilst striving for engineering excellence.
- Quality assure work performed by subcontractors ensuring compliance and alignment to all company policies and procedures.
- Engage and communicate with management to ensure they understand current and possible future engineering activities.
- Ensure maintenance of effective client interfaces.
- Provide accurate input for monthly forecasting and financial reporting.
- Liaise directly with Clients and with the Managing Director to ensure all technical queries on sales invoices are resolved efficiently and credit terms are observed.
- Ensure effective utilisation of ERP system.
- Provision of input for monthly forecasting and financial reporting.
- Assist in developing and delivering budgets and business plans.
- Establish and maintain an extensive network of contacts, promote the business and maintain a high profile.
- Increase the company’s involvement with existing/new clients ensuring penetration at appropriate levels.
- Liaise, as directed, with the Renewables Manager and Technical, BD and Managing Director’s to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Provide expertise on technical issues to ensure maximum possible conversion ratio from quotes to orders.
- Develop and submit reliable budgetary forecasts and forward plans as requested.
- As required provide input / support to tendering and business development activities.
- Develop and make presentations as necessary, both internally and externally.
- Report and discuss with the Renewables Manager/Technical Director/Managing Director any competitor activity which may detract from the company achieving its objectives.
- Continually review the status of the HSEQ Management System activities & performance.
- Assist to ensure that we minimise risk in accordance with current legislation obtaining advice internally as required.
- Responsible for assessing the improvement opportunities associated with the Project team and process. E.g. welfare, HSE, efficiency and throughout, time management etc
- Support to develop, implement and maintain quality assurance protocols.
- Responsible for ensuring teamwork in compliance to legislation and standards (IS0 9001, 45001 etc).
- Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems and take an active part in the compliance and improvement of same.
- Report any accidents, incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems according to Company processes/procedures.
