The Pantheon Tax team aims to deliver a broad service to the Pantheon business ranging from corporate tax, partnership tax, employment-related taxes, and personal tax in key jurisdictions, including UK, US, and Hong Kong. Key responsibilities cover the Pantheon corporate groups and its funds. Extensive use is made of external tax advisors to leverage their resources and experience. The position is required to facilitate the growing US tax requirements of the Pantheon business which brings more tax compliance obligation requirements, as well as increased tax support required by the Pantheon business, and the need to drive forward tax specific projects internally stemming from changes to global tax legislations. Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to tax advisors during the Group / Corporate and Funds U.S. tax compliance cycle and have oversight of the process. This will include corresponding with and providing documentation as required to tax advisors and auditors for the Group / Corporate and Funds U.S. tax returns and audits.
- Review quarterly U.S. tax estimates and U.S. annual tax returns.
- Assist with client and investor U.S. tax and Schedule K-1 queries.
- Oversee process for payment of U.S. tax liabilities to ensure penalties and interests are minimized.
- Be Tax lead on Pantheon funds closing process from a tax perspective, including reviewing investor CIQs, and validating FATCA and CRS documentation obtained from investors.
- Maintain up to date investor tax documentation which involves liaising with external provider and Investor Relations team in a repapering exercise to obtain and validate updated documents that have expired.
- Support Pantheon teams (e.g. Investor Relations / Investment Structuring Teams) with withholding tax exemption / relief claim for investments and liaising with Investor Relations team, external tax advisors, and external general partners as necessary.
- Monitor tax legislative updates in relevant jurisdictions and conduct reviews of new and existing activities.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors across various jurisdictions engaged to provide tax services for Pantheon corporate group, Pantheon funds, and Pantheon partners.
- Assist in the monitoring of the tax team mailbox.
- Support the tax team with any other projects as required.
Knowledge and Experience Required
- A professional accounting and tax qualification (CPA or EA with exposure to US partnership and corporate tax) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- International tax experience is useful but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of the corporate, legal, and tax environment are essential.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, written, and verbal skills as well as excellent attention to detail.
- Strong relationship building and influencing skills.
- Excellent IT skills, Microsoft Office, including Excel.
