Job description
Vacancy Information
Applications are welcomed from substantive Constables and Detective Constables on Promotion to Sergeant or Detective Sergeant from other Force areas via transfer on Promotion or Level Transfer. Applications will also be welcomed from individuals who wish to re-join the Force at a higher rank (please see eligibility criteria below).
In recent years, Surrey Police and Sussex Police have been collaborating across a range of operational policing services. Both forces serve a diverse range of communities, affording plenty of opportunity for a varied leadership career. We're encouraging colleagues from under-represented groups to apply for promotion.
As part of the application, you will be able to advise us of your preferred top three roles and locations together with any working requirements (ie part time working hours, flexible working etc). Subject to your successful application and interview, your preferences will be taken into consideration at the postings panel and accommodated where possible. We recognise that our people are balancing demanding careers with commitments and interests outside of work. We welcome discussion with candidates who want to work full-time or part-time flexible hours. If a suitable role isn't available at the time that accommodates your flexible working requirements, you will remain in a pool whilst other opportunities are explored.

Diversity Statement
We are only as good as our people. It's important that our officers and staff can be themselves in the workplace and we know that as an organisation we'll grow from the variety of thinking, approach, and the skills that diversity brings; all of which help us to deliver a better policing service. We strive to ensure how we deliver our services, provide information and how we recruit is open and accessible to all.
We have multiple staff support groups who help to improve our understanding of minority issues and ensure they are reflected in our work. We are proud members of the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index and Disability Confident, a signatory of the Race at Work Charter and aligned with the Armed Forces Covenant and the HeForShe movement.
We are committed to being an anti-racist police service. We promise to challenge injustice, ensure fairness and to uphold anti-racist principles in both our organisation and our communities.
We value the differences that people bring from all backgrounds and communities. Regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, disability, social status, or religious belief, we would love to hear from you.
