Role: Sessional Youth Workers

Location: Penny Appeal Campus, Thornes Park, Horbury Road, Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Hours: Part Time 6 hours per week

Shifts: 2 weekly sessions from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., some weekend working

Pay Rate: Grade B - Pay Band £22,308.00 - £24,139.00 per annum

Pro rata for 6 hours per week

Responsible To: Community Hub Manager

Department: Fundraising

Your role will be varied, responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and delivering a range of youth activities
  • Listening to and supporting young people to engage with events
  • Contributing to plan and designing of youth projects and activities
  • Keeping young people safe
  • Supporting the delivery of regular individual and group sessions for young people
  • Supporting young people and signposting them to other partners where appropriate
  • Ensuring all record keeping and paperwork is up to date

The Requirements:

Delivery of youth work Essential

Experience of supporting young people from a diverse range of backgrounds and needs Essential

Experience of youth leadership Essential

Up to date safeguarding practices Essential

Awareness of the current policy and best practice relating to communities and young people Essential

Awareness and understanding of all statutory and procedural issues related to working with young people. Essential

Must be passionate about supporting and motivating young people in a range of settings to enable young people to take part in our youth activities. Essential

Must have the ability to support young people within our evening youth clubs Essential

Must be able to engage young people in youth activities Essential

Must be able to develop trusted relationships with young people to enable to them access our Penny Appeal Safe Space to create an inclusive and supportive environment for them to personally develop emotional and social skills. Essential

Level 3 qualification in youth work Desirable

First Aid qualification Desirable
