We are looking for a Full time Youth Worker to join our enthusiastic & dedicated youth work team!
Context of the Work
Newground Youth Team (NYT) work across Calderdale with young people aged 8 - 19 years old (or up to 24 with additional needs). We deliver Open Access Youth Clubs, Street Based Youth Work and Targeted 1 to 1 Support. No two days are the same so the successful candidate will need to flexible in their approach and creative in their thinking.
As a Youth Worker, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of issued based interventions and providing support information and guidance to young people on issues that impact their lives. Engaging young people in a variety of activities and opportunities in Calderdale communities. Everything we do supports young people to develop their social and life skills and supporting their personal growth.

Key responsibilities of a Youth Worker at Newground Together:
- Work alongside young people to support and promote their voice, on issues, key decisions and strategies that effect their lives and communities.
- Advocate for young people to ensure their voices are heard
- Build positive and trusted relationships with young people, their families and partner organisations
- Create safe spaces and environments within local communities where young people can access support, gain new skills and achieve new things
- Deliver needs led interventions and activities providing information, advice and guidance on key issues faced by young people
- Respond to challenging behaviour, de-escalate conflict and promote the development of positive relationships
- Contribute to the evaluation and monitoring of youth programs to ensure effectiveness and impact
- Effectively communicate with key stakeholders, partner organisations and services to raise awareness of issues impacting young people and work together to identify solutions for their needs.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is committed to working with and for young people to make a positive impact in their lives and the communities in which they live
- Has experience of developing positive & meaningful relationships with young people aged 8 to 24 years old
- Can deliver exciting, fun and engaging activities and opportunities with and for young people
- Has excellent communication and people skills
- Is patient, understanding, and able to provide guidance and support to young people
- Is able to work effectively as part of a team
- Understands the pressures and issues facing young peoples and has awareness of the existing support services available

- Starting salary of £25,538 per annum
- Annual pay scale increase
- 27 days holiday (rising to 32 over 5 years' service) + bank holidays
- You will be based out on site at our Halifax hub, covering Calderdale.
