Social Media Manager

Salary from £40,229 to £48,456 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £52,095 pa inclusive of London allowance.

This is a fixed term appointment for two years with extension subject to further funding.

The Grantham Research Institute is a world-leading centre for the study of the economics and social sciences of climate change and other global environmental problems, based at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

The Social Media Manager is a new role within the Communications Team at the Institute. The postholder will lead the development and expansion of the Institute’s global Social Media presence - increasing engagement with our key audiences in the process.

The Social Media Manager will be responsible for creating and publishing content across the Institute’s core channels as well as those of associated brands – including the Transition Pathway Initiative Centre, the new Just Transition Finance Lab and Centre for Economic Transition Expertise (CETEX). The postholder will also be responsible for developing and implementing a Social Media strategy for the Institute and its associated brands.

The position requires someone with experience of managing and setting schedules for professional Social Media accounts – including X/Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Candidates should have experience of producing engaging and impactful written copy, Social Media graphics and video/audio content. Experience of using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Premier Pro and Audition to produce high quality content is required. In addition to the day-to-day management of Social Media channels candidates should be able to demonstrate an ability to develop strategies and guidelines for Social Media use. Postholders must also have a proven ability to understand and interpret key findings from policy and/or academic papers and to disseminate them clearly and concisely to a non-expert audience. Knowledge and understanding of climate change and other environmental issues would be an advantage.
