The starting salary for the Social Worker role is £40,929 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week whilst the starting salary for the Senior Social Worker role is £46,399 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.
This position is a 12-month secondment (with the possibly of an extension) and is a wonderful opportunity for any candidates that are looking to broaden their experience in a more specialised area and would like to try something different. We are excited to be hiring a new Senior Social Worker or Social Worker to join our fantastic Learning Disability & Autism team (LD&A). This position is countywide and involves hybrid working with an expectation of a minimum of two office working days per week across our two offices located in Guildford Borough Council and Fairmount House in Leatherhead.

About the role
This Social Worker position is a unique role working on a specific Project. The Project focuses on three separate areas, supporting individuals who either:
- Have a dual diagnosis requiring a collaborative approach with other teams within SCC and external Partners. The role will involve working alongside Health partners and jointly assessing clients who require support from both Mental Health and LD&A specialist teams;
- Are on the s117 Pathway. This involves doing a targeted piece of work of identifying s117 responsible Commissioners, obtaining detention records, undertaking s117 aftercare plan reviews/assessments in order to meet SCC's s117 duty;
- Are moving into the next phase of Adult Social Care services from the Transition team.
This role will spend part of the year assisting young people turning 25 years of age as they transfer into our service from the Transition Team. You will be joint working with the individuals involved, their families, and the Transition team to enable continuity of support and a smooth transfer into a new, LD&A team. These will include undertaking early transition planning, preliminary joint working (with the Transition team) before cases are transferred, completing assessments, support planning and sourcing support for individuals when required - ie. when leaving college.
Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your CV will clearly evidence the following:
- Professional qualification in Social Work and current registration with Social Work England
- Your substantial post qualification professional experience
- Knowledge and experience of current legislation, including the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act and its application to practice in a social care setting.
- Experience in carrying out safeguarding enquiries, carrying out assessments within the community and working with a diverse group of individuals and partner agencies.
- Commitment to your own professional development.
Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area.Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.
