Want to manage a team of engineers which builds customer facing experiences across Amazon globally?
The Campaign and Product Tech (CAPT) team builds and operates the technologies to operate the Brand Innovation Lab (BIL) business. BIL builds never been done before customer experiences to promote brands and Products across Amazon. Your team's work is featured across Amazon's site, app, and Fire TV globally.
Your team is both responsible for the delivery of its project work stream, and evolving the underlying technologies and processes to make this more efficient and maintainable.

Your team primarily operates on the front-end: building the pages, developer tools, and re-usable components which operate the above pages. Your team's technologies power both your team, and 10+ other teams across the Brand Innovation Lab business.
As a Software Development Manager, you are responsible for continuously improving the team. You'll do this by improving the workflows for the business to engage our team, evolve the underlying technologies, and improve the team's operational excellence.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage the team's scrum workflow.
- Balance business project requests with engineering improvement items.
- Deliver senior-level goals, requiring coordination across teams and organizations.
- Coach and grow engineers.
- Evolve your team's architecture and engineering process for improved efficiency and maintainability.
- Create a long-term road map to improve your team's operations and technologies on 1-3 year timeline.
A day in the life
The team run's in an agile scrum-like fashion. A typical day can look like this:
- Run the team's stand-up, learning about the progress of the team's active projects and engineering improvements.
- Support an engineer in getting unblocked on one of their projects.
- Conduct a few of your weekly 1:1s with your direct reports.
- Attend your team's operational review, diving into the resolved and new operational and on-call risks.
- Attend a weekly business review, learning of current business themes, challenges, and opportunities.
- Attend a technical architecture review, providing feedback on key decisions to achieve a senior and cross-team goal.
- Hold a backlog review with the team, ranking and defining the key items which will be planned into the next sprints.
- End the team's sprint with demos and a retrospective.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working directly within engineering teams
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in engineering
- Experience managing engineers
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services
- Experience managing engineers which build customer facing experiences (front-end).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and Product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
