This will be a high-profile role, drawing on the expertise, experience and leadership of the post holder to change the way NHS England maximises the value and impact of education and training. The post holder will build on existing collaborative relationships with the higher education system, NHS providers and system partners to develop models for high quality, innovative education and training. The flexibility programme is a key part of both the Enhancing Doctors Working Lives programme and NHSEs medical Education Reform programme delivering changes to training programmes through both policy (e.g. Out of Programme Pause), personal development time and recruitment processes. The Long Term Workforce Plan highlights the need to reform the development of the medical workforce, and these programmes are focussed on delivering that aim. The post holder will play a crucial role in ensuring the following performance metrics of the programme are achieved over the next 12-24 months. Delivery of OOP Pause, with proposals for reform of OOP by 2025, including step in and out of formal training programmes.
