An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Specialist Nurse to join our SET CAMHS Eating Disorder Service.
The Eating Disorders Team covers Essex, Southend and Thurrock. Our main office base is in Chelmsford is Essex.
The post-holder will be a qualified nurse who is fully registered with the NMC and ideally will have additional post-graduate qualifications relevant to the area.
The post holder will be required to assess and treat CYP patients who present with an eating disorder. The post holder will be expected to attend and participate in MDT team meetings.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the team; we are developing the service to include an intense day programme to provide support to families at home. We want to reduce Tier 4 admission and facilitate early discharge. Supporting young people and there families to recovery whilst being at home.
We are seeking an individual with the knowledge and skills to work as part of a multi-professional team and be innovative in their approach to supporting this client group. The post holder is expected to work well within a team setting however should be able to deliver an autonomous service as part of the role, operating within recognised professional guidelines and the overall framework of the eating disorder service’s policies and procedures.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

To provide care and treatment for young people in Essex, Southend and Thurrock with an Eating Disorder
• To provide specialist assessments and evidence based interventions such as family and cognitive behavioural interventions to young people and their families seen within the NELFT Eating disorders team
• To contribute to the training activities of the team both within the service and externally.
• To provide consultation and advice on Eating disorders and related psychological issues to other services within the SET CAMHS service, and external services/provisions, e.g schools, acute hospitals and social services.
• To provide consultation and advice on risk assessment and risk management of service users with an eating disorder
• To provide meal support to patients and work therapeutically with CYP and families in the homes
• To work alongside the CYP therapist to compliment the FTAN Model
• To participate and be a lead facilitator of groups
