Job overview

To work as a Specialist NurseSafeguarding Children within the multi-agency Complex Safeguarding/Connect team and the Route 29 team, leading and coordinating delivery of services, to meet the health needs of children and young people who have been identified as being at risk or potential risk of harm from complex safeguarding issues, are on the edge of care or who are Cared for Children.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

Undertake the role of Specialist Nurse Safeguarding with children and young people at risk of complex safeguarding, those who are struggling to engage with services and those who are on the edge of care or cared for children across the health economy.
Ensure that the health needs of children and vulnerable young people who are assessed as being at actual/potential risk of harm from complex safeguarding and those on the edge of care are identified, assessed and are met.
Be responsible for the development of clear health care pathways with universal and specialist health service provision, across health provider boundaries to ensure that children and young people can access all services to meet their health needs
Work as part of the local multi agency complex safeguarding/Connect and Route 29 teams, ensuring that the Complex Safeguarding Strategy and the Route 29 model are fully developed and implemented across Salford and ensuring that all practitioners can access advice and support about health needs of these children and young people
Work as part of the multi-agency team to ensure that the views of children and young people and their families can influence the development of practice within Salford.
To develop and share best practice in relation to this specialist area of work
To respond to the developing changes, policy and statutory guidance in relation to other areas of complex safeguarding, Safeguarding Children and transitional safeguarding,

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
