Grade T18-20 £22,574 - £23,948 per annum
Full time 37 hours per week
City College Peterborough’s Study Skills department are looking for a Sport Technician to join their team.
Share your knowledge and experience of being a gym instructor with the young people studying at John Mansfield Campus.
A Sport Technicians role and responsibilities include assisting the Sports Tutor with the delivery, assessment, and administration of lessons; building meaningful rapports with learners and a collaborative work practice with colleagues; and preparations of teaching environments prior to lessons. You will work with lecturers to raise the learning and attainment of young people, while promoting their social inclusion, self-esteem and independence. You will get the opportunity to support students in the Sport vocational area of the college and ensure all students are provided with the most appropriate level of support to assist them to access the curriculum, participate in learning and fulfil their potential.
You will need to be able to use your own initiative while supporting learners, dealing with situations with tact and empathy. The need to be flexible in your approach is imperative. You will need to be qualified to GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths and ideally have experience of working with people with SEND. We are ambitious for our learners and suitable applicants will possess the drive and determination to support and aspire learners to achieve.

The job role will also include contributing to the continued development of the Department, providing tutorial support for learners, and carrying out the associated administrative tasks connected with the position. All appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced criminal records with Barred List check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
The successful candidate will be required to:
?Multi- skilled ability
?Have a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification
?Supervise the Gym as required
?Establish effective working relationships with young people
?Monitor, support and record learner progress
?Provide innovative and stimulating training
?Work as part of a team to achieve timely results
